Cotton
The Con: Cotton can use a lot of water to grow, but it really depends on which region of the world it’s grown in.
The Pros: Cotton is a natural fiber that doesn’t need a ton of chemical processing, and it has a lower impact on climate change (read: less CO2 emitted) than most other common fibers.
WHEN YOU SAY “ETHICAL”...
In this case, we mean: Garments are either Fair Wear or WRAP Gold certified, meaning workers were paid a living wage (Fair Wear) or at least a fair legal minimum wage (WRAP), and factories don’t allow child labor, forced labor, or unsafe working conditions. This brand is totally vegan and uses nontoxic, water-based inks for printing (instead of the typical plastic-based inks used for other screen prints).
